Five years ago, fed up with her unhealthy life, Siubhan Green and her two children packed up and moved from Auckland to Taranaki. It was a move fuelled by a desire to follow a path of self-discovery and personal development which would eventually lead her to writing her first children’s story.
Greens’ story, ‘I Believe… In Me’, is inspired by her own journey. “So many adults are stuck in jobs that pay the bills but don’t evoke passion.”
Looking deeper, Green believes that this is an issue reaching all the way back to childhood. "What I have learned is that each and every one of us, from the moment we are born, develops an internal belief system. Every encounter and every experience, everything we see and everything we hear shapes us into the people we become; what we believe we can do, how we see the world and our place within it; it determines every choice we make in life.”
Aimed at children from the age of eight, Green hopes her book will instil the knowledge that, with the right sense of self, they can reach their dreams.
The story draws inspiration from significant people throughout history who, despite challenges, have achieved great things. Specifically, Green names Oprah Winfrey, Walt Disney, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Steve Jobs, amongst a handful who of others who epitomise her message.
